As your dedicated preschool and early childhood education center here in Frisco, TX, we want to help you and your children enjoy the season in a way that’s both fun and educational. So here are a few ideas for great fall-themed arts and crafts activities you can enjoy with your children!

Popcorn on the Cob

Fall is harvest season, and there’s no better way to celebrate than making some delicious popcorn… on the cob! This is a great craft activity that’s both fun and delicious, and it’s also perfect to include as a party favor for any fall parties or playdates you may be hosting.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

Yellow Construction Paper
Yellow Or Gold Crayons
Green Crepe Paper
Green Raffia Or Other Green Ribbon
Paper Cups
Clear Treat Or Snack Bags
Glue
Popcorn Of Your Choice (use homemade for extra fun)

Directions

First, cut ovals in the shape of corn cobs out of the yellow construction paper, making them slightly larger than the cups.
Using a marker, draw kernels on the yellow construction paper corn cobs.
Glue a “corn cob” to the front of each cup.
Cut the green crepe paper into pieces roughly 11″ x 12″.
Carefully crinkle the crepe paper, then glue one end to the bottom of the cup such that it encircles most of the cup but leaves an opening on one side.
Generously fill the treat bag with your popped popcorn, using a twist tie to close it.
Place your bag of popcorn inside the cup, then gather the crepe paper around the back to surround it like a corn husk.
Finally, use your green raffia to tie the top of the crepe paper and secure the treat bag, making a simulated corn cob surrounded by its husk.

Colorful Fall Leaf “Stamps”

Here’s another fun activity for enjoying the season that incorporates materials straight from mother nature! Plus, this one is both easy and produces beautiful results. Here’s what you’ll need:

Leaves from your favorite fall tree (preferably not too dry)
Paint of assorted favorite colors
Paintbrushes
White paper (or any type of paper)

Directions

To start, take one of your fall leaves, then carefully paint a colorful pattern onto one side of the leaf. Feel free to get creative here – while fall colors are appropriate, there’s nothing wrong with using every color of the rainbow!
Before the paint dries, press the painted side of the leaf down onto a piece of paper. Use your hands to make sure every part of the leaf presses down firmly on the paper.
Lift up the leaf to reveal a beautiful multi-colored leaf pattern on the paper!
Experiment with different colors, different leaves, and different amounts of pressure when pressing to produce different varieties of patterns and leaf imprints.
